What is Optical Gel?
Optical Gel is some of the most recent technology in the bird control industry as of this writing in February, 2020. It's what Bird Barrier calls a multi-sensory bird repellent. They call it that because it is supposed to repel birds using sight, smell and touch, which is a new take on bird control products.
How does Optical Gel work?
- Sight: The gel comes in small, round dishes or trays, and appear as a sort of fire and/or smoke to birds.
- Smell: It's long been know that birds do not care for the odors that are produced by citronella and peppermint oil. People like them, but they don't.
- Tough: Repellent bird gels have been a part of the arsenal for years, so the fact that they don't like the stickiness of Optical Gel comes as no surprise.
It works so well in many situations that we wish they would come up with a version for bat removal and prevention, too.
Where can Optical Gel be used?
The cool thing about Optical Gel is that it's so easy to use. Simply affix the trays to whatever surface you need to protect. As long as you follow the instructions on the label as far as spacing goes, it's supposed to work on all species of birds. Surfaces include:
- A/C Units
- Evap Units
